Mar 31, 2017- A meeting of the ruling parties and agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha held in Baluwatar on Friday decided to put the stalled amendment proposal on hold and bring a new one.
The meeting was summoned by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in a bid to bring the disgruntled Madhesi Morcha on board the local level elections slated for May 14.
It is learnt that PM Dahal, who is also the Chairman of ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), would prepare the proposal by holding discussions with the leaders of ruling parties and Madhesi Morcha.
“PM Dahal will prepare the proposal by holding discussions with the leaders of ruling parties and Madhesi Morcha,” CPN (Maoist Centre) spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said. “Revision proposal will be prepared soon,” she added.
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman, however, were not present in the meeting.
According to Bhusal, PM Dahal had proposed to resolve the issue of demarcation through the Federal Commission and increase the number of local units on the basis of population.
