After a long discussion, five Madhes-based parties are preparing to announce the formation of a unified Rastriya Janata Party on Thursday afternoon.
According to Keshav Jha, General Secretary of Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party, the five parties would announce the formation of new party amid a special ceremony scheduled to be held at Kalikasthan-Amrit Bhog Party Palace at 2 pm today.
The five parties include Mahantha Thakur led Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Rajendra Mahato led Sadbhawana Party, Sharat Singh Bhandari led Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party, Mahendra Yadav led Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party and Rajkishor Yadav led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum- Ganatantrik.

However, discussions were still underway with Anil Jha led Nepal Sadbhawana Party but their participation has not been finalised yet.
General secretary of Sadbhawana Party Manish Kumar Suman said the Anil Jha-led party could join the unification anytime soon and it can also be today as well. Jha, however, said his party was informed yesterday only,  therefore the party needs to hold internal discussions first.
Leaders said the five parties have almost finalised the leadership of the unified party on rotation basis as per the list of party’s registration in the Election Commission with Mahantha Thakur being the first Chairman and umbrella as their election symbol.
The party’s flag would be of three colour stripes – red stripe on the top white in between and green at the bottom.
