saying the motion does not have solid supporting facts and concrete decision for the same.
“We have felt that the impeachment motion has been registered by compromising the judicial independence and with intent of weakening the judiciary by triggering controversies,” read a statement issued by former chief justices on Monday.
In the statement, the former chief justices have said that they sense biasness and possible vested political interest behind the impeachment motion.
“The impeachment motion, instead of presenting facts and decision to justify the reasons pointed out for the impeachment, simply exhibits lengthy and abstract list which does not look logical enough to impeach Karki," the statement read.
The statement was issued by Kalyan Shrestha, Ram Prasad Shrestha, Anup Raj Sharma and Min Bahadur Rayamajhi—all former chief justices at the Supreme Court.
Lawmakers from ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had registered an impeachment motion against Karki on Sunday saying that she interfered with the executive's decision.
