Monsoon to be weak from today

Monsoon which was active for the past few days will gradually get weaker from Monday, weather experts said.
The torrential rainfall which had battered the eastern region has been moving towards western region.
Heavy rainfall occurred in Simara, Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Bhairahawa of the central region and Dang, Bardiya, Banke and Kanchanpur among other places of the western region on Sunday.
“Monsoon has become active in central and western regions from Sunday and some places of those regions witnessed heavy rainfall,” Meteorologist at Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) Barun Paudel said, adding, “Monsoon will get weak from Monday and the weather will be improved in a few days.”
According to the MFD, the eastern region witnessed light rainfall on Sunday.  The MFD recorded 23 mm and 10.8 and 173.2 mm rainfall in Dhankuta, Taplejung and Simara respectively.
The Division recorded 26.6 mm rainfall in Kathmandu on Sunday, 167.4 mm in Dang, 67.6 mm in Bhairahawa, 70.2 mm in Nepalgunj and 64.3 mm in Birendranagar.
Water level in Karnali River and Babai River and various rivers have crossed the danger mark, Flood Forecasting Section of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM) said.
After the water level in the rivers crossed the danger mark, locals have been urged to stay in alert.
