Six of a family dead as jeep carrying woman in labour drowns in floodwaters

Aug 13, 2017- Six persons of a single family, including a pregnant woman in labour pain and a minor, were killed when a jeep they were traveling drowned in floodwaters at Parora Rural Council in Rautahat district.
Chandan Kishor Yadav of Parora-3 was travelling to a hospital at Rajpur Farhadawa in jeep bearing Indian registration number plate BH 26 AY 1939 after his pregnant wife went into labour. His mother, aunt, child and brother were also in the jeep when it drove into the floodwater and drowned.
District police suspected the vehicle entered into the floodwater at Rajpur-3 after its driver failed to properly estimate its depth. Continuous rainfall in the district has increased water level and also inundated majority of the district area.
Police have recovered bodies of Chandan, his wife Sharmila Yadav, 27, daughter Choti Kumar Yadav, 3, mother Sunita Yadav, 54, aunt Lalita yadav, 38, and brother Saroj Yadav, 25, from the water.
