The local administration has planned to ease the vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Muglin road for the upcoming major festivals.
A team, including Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta and Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa, inspected the road section on Friday and instructed the construction company, the Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project, to ease the vehicular movement during major festivals and complete construction works on time.
“There are many potholes in the road section. I have directed the contractor company to repair the potholes and minimise dust,” said CDO Bhatta.
According to the local administration, the road will be opened at night once the rains recede. “There’s a threat of landslides during rainfall. “We are planning to resume vehicular movement at night from September 10,” added CDO Bhatta.
Santosh Panta, chief of district traffic police, said more than 10,000 vehicles ply the road a day during festivals. “We will make arrangements to clear vehicles in about two hours from the Narayangadh-Muglin road section,” Panta assured.
The construction works have come to a halt due to continuous landslides during rainfall. Kalikhola, Charkilo, Panchkilo, Jalbire and Bhaludhunga areas are particularly at high risk.
Only 54 percent of construction works have been completed so far on the road upgradation project that started in April 2015. The project has aimed to complete the construction works by mid-April 2018.
